With the European elections approaching, and strong feelings about Brexit in the air, Citizens:mk wants to promote dialogue and trust between MK people who have opposing views by organising a special ‘Weaving Trust’ event one week before the Election. It will be an opportunity to listen to each other and build relationships at a time of division and conflict.
The aim is to attract 20 participants who each bring to the event one person who voted opposite to the way they did in the 2016 EU Referendum. The event will be open only to people who are accompanied by someone who voted the other way, and who are both labelled accordingly. In order to book tickets for the pair, you will need the other person’s name and email address.
At the event, participants will be asked to take up positions in two circles of facing chairs around the cloisters, Leave facing Remain voters, and have a series of short conversations about their current thoughts and feelings about living in MK.
For those seeking help with inviting others to form a pair of opposites, please attend a Training session on this, 5-6.30pm Thursday 9th May at Church of Christ the Cornerstone, or phone the Community Organiser on 07962 838586.
